Ladakh Trip Itinerary: 7 Days from Leh

Why seven days
Leh sits high, so the first days are for rest. Seven days from Leh covers acclimatisation, Nubra and Pangong with a slow pace. Six nights is the minimum for Nubra and Pangong; a road or bike trip from Manali or Srinagar needs nine to eleven nights.
Day 1: arrive in Leh and rest
Land at Leh airport and rest. Keep the afternoon light, drink plenty of water and avoid alcohol. If headaches, nausea or breathlessness get worse, tell your guide and see a doctor.
Day 2: Leh and monasteries
Visit Shey Palace, Thiksey and Hemis monasteries at an easy pace. Short drives and gentle walks help your body adjust.
Day 3: Khardung La to Nubra
Cross Khardung La, one of the highest motorable passes, and drop to the Nubra valley. Check in and visit the Hunder sand dunes in the evening, where Bactrian camels can be ridden.
Day 4: Nubra to Pangong
Travel from Nubra to Pangong Lake, which needs an inner line permit, and allow a full day for the road. Spend the night at a lakeside camp and watch the colours change from morning to evening.
Day 5: Pangong to Leh
Return to Leh via Chang La. Stop at viewpoints on the way and rest in the afternoon.
Day 6: Leh free day
Use a free day for rafting on the Indus in season, a short trek such as Sham Valley, or shopping in Leh's market.
Day 7: Departure
Transfer to Leh airport for your flight home, allowing time for the altitude and the drive.
