Port Blair, now also called Sri Vijaya Puram, is the gateway to the Andaman Islands and the place to see the islands' history. Spend one or two nights, and use the day to visit the Cellular Jail, Ross Island and a few museums before you take the ferry to the beaches.
Cellular Jail

Ross Island
Ross Island was the old British administrative centre, now in ruins and overgrown. It is reached by a short boat ride, and boats run on set timings, so confirm them before you book.
